Around the first of July I decided to start the Couch to 5K running program. I have tried before, but this time was determined to complete the program. I didn't have my eye set on a specific race but I had always wanted to do a Color Run. Providentially, it just so happened that the conclusion of my training coincided with the Lee-Scott Academy Color Run, a fundraiser for Turner's school.
My first goal was simply to finish. My second goal was to run the entire way. Proudly - I did both.
This little girl was waiting on me as I rounded the first lap of the school - so fun to have her cheering me on!
She ran with me for a ways and somewhere in this realm I actually rolled my ankle on that high driveway shoulder...thankfully my adrenaline and competitive nature took over (as well as the fact that my shoelaces were tied so tight I almost didn't feel it) and I continued. Didn't really realize how I had hurt it till I took my shoes off in the car and saw the discoloring!
This may be one of my favorite pictures ever. She is just the best.
While the parents and bigger kids ran the 5K, the kids had their own mini-Color Run around the baseball fields.
