Fun in the sun!

We are safe and sound at home, and both Turner and I very glad to see Mark! Between Wednesday and Friday of last week we didn't really see him, saw him about 5 hours Friday night, and then not again since Saturday morning when we left. All in all, we've seen him approximately 7 waking hours in the last week. Needless to say, we are happy to be home and for him to be CWE free for about a week!

We enjoyed our time with Tootsie, Pop, and BB so very much - it was a wonderful time for my family to be together in one of our favorite places on earth. I really get tremendous joy out of watching my parents and my sister with Turner - they just love on that little girl so much. And she thinks they all hung the moon. When she sees my dad or sister she just shouts their name at the top of her lungs and runs to them...priceless, priceless memories.

Here are a few more beach pictures taken over the course of the last couple of days there. The first night we went out for pictures my camera got so foggy with humidity, etc. that I couldn't see...so we went out again last night (despite yucky weather and no sun) to take a few more pictures (because we didn't have enough!?). Anyhow, I really love some of these shots, especially since Turner finally warmed up to the ocean a little yesterday and really enjoyed jumping in the waves (a favorite pastime of her Mommy and Pop). She definitely said, "I drank it!" more than once because she couldn't keep her mouth closed from laughing when the waves would come. Not surprisingly she also loved playing in the sand, destroying any sandcastle attempts, and swimming in the pool. We had a wonderful time!!

Beach Bums

Here are a few pictures taken yesterday and today at the beach! We are here till Tuesday with my parents and my sister (poor Mark has to work). It's HOT, just like it is anywhere in the Southeast U.S., but as Dad said today, "A hot day at the beach is better than any day at work." Agreed!

Pics from Pep Rally #6

It has been a few weeks since we've attended a CWE pep rally, mainly because Mark had that night off during the last CWE session so we enjoyed the night at home with Daddy. Last night, we got back into the spirit (and braved the humid, hot air) for some pep rally fun!

The director of the Miss AU pageant wanted a "past, present, and future" Miss AU picture. This was the result from my camera! I think her shot may be better, if so I will post later.

We had a great time at pep rally #6! We will miss #7 and then there is just ONE MORE left! (Read: we get to have Daddy home again!!) After all this pep rally training, we can't wait for Turner to put her cheering skills to use in the fall!

Why it's expensive for me to be at home for the summer...

You see, I have all these "projects". I start making the list in late April or early May, a list that chronicles all the things I want to accomplish while I am off work. This year the list revolves mainly around decorative/crafty type things: about 5 sewing projects, 3 painting projects (one of which I will post pics of later), some curtain related projects, etc. etc.

By the way, here are some pics of some things I have sewn this summer.

And a couple of new beach related items for the summer - a towel and cover-up for Turner!

As you can imagine, the list was already pretty long...and then Tuesday rolled around and I attended a hairbow making class at a local sewing center. And the list just got a little longer.

I had the BEST time learning to make bows! Now, you must understand that many years ago (approximately 26 to be exact) my mom and cousin made custom hairbows. They painted the ends with my initials, glued special buttons to them to match specific outfits, and even mass produced these to sell at local craft festivals such as the Rattlesnake Rodeo and the Patchwork Derby. (For all you hometown folks you know what I mean. For those who don't, the Rattlesnake Rodeo is a whole other post in and of itself.) So, I grew up watching this process, but I knew that hairbow creation had evolved through the years and there were some pretty fancy new styles out there. And I also learned, after having a daughter, that hairbows are quite the expense if you love them like I do! Naturally, I wanted to try my hand at this....and it has quickly become an addiction.

So when I came home, this ribbon...
...became this bow!And this ribbon...became this bow!And all this ribbon is just WAITING to be coordinated, tied, and finished! This was actually round one of ribbon...we've gone back for more and Mom and I are planning some serious bow creation while we are at the beach!I did take the chance to go ahead and experiment with my favorite zebra ribbon, as well as make a smaller red/white/blue pinwheel bow out of my scraps from the class. And the white bow was priority #1 and a main reason I took the class - we can't keep those white bows clean!

Can you see why Mark is certain that it's not good for me to be home for long periods of time??
