Mark and I made a commitment before Turner was born to continue to make "date nights" and time with one another a priority after we became parents. I must say, we are pretty proud of our efforts thus far! For example, we left Turner as early as 3 weeks old for a couple of Christmas parties, and we went to South Carolina in February, which was our first time to be away from Turner for a night. (Thanks to Tootsie and Pop for serving as babysitters and making this possible for us!)
To continue in our quest for "us time" we were able to steal away this past Saturday to spend some time in Atlanta. We had a delicious dinner at The Pleasant Peasant and followed that with a hilarious Broadway play at the FOX in Atlanta.
For the record:
1. Many of the reviews we read on the Pleasant Peasant said that "Atlanta residents quit eating here 8 years ago." We think Atlanta residents should re-think that decision - it was a magnificent dining experience and we'd certainly return again!
2. I know some of you are questioning whether Mark would like something like a Broadway play and you are figuring it was torture for him to sit through it. Oh how wrong you are! That's one of the things I love most about our marriage - we truly do share many similar interests and enjoy accompanying one another to a wide variety of events. For example - in the last three weeks we have attended both the SEC basketball tournament and a musical together and both of us enjoyed every minute of both events! (Except for the tornado...)
People seem so surprised, and often comment aloud at how much we "get away" these days....but we both think it's VITAL to our keeping the priorities in order 1)God, 2)Our Marriage, 3) Turner. And, it's simply refreshing to get away together and remember how much we enjoy "just the two of us"!

I think that is awesome! John and I talk about that now-how we want to keep our lives as normal as possible after we have a child, knowing it is going to add a dimension that is awesome and crazy at the same time-but we too think it will be incredibly important to spend time with each other one on one!!
I love this, and I am going to talk to Patrick to make these same plans when the time comes. My parents also had date nights, and I have always loved and respected their relationship!
I love this!! What a great thing for you to keep up together! And "Tootsie" -- how did I not know this??
Good Girl!!! After almost 13 years of marriage we are still dating!!! Turner is so blessed to have a Tootsie and Pop...
