When I arrived home from church today I was greeted with a very excited little girl ready to give me some Mother's Day treats. Mark was smart enough to go shopping alone and not even tell her about the gifts until they got home from church - she cannot keep a secret, especially if it revolves around a surprise gift for someone special! (Last night he said something to her about Mother's Day when he was telling her goodnight and when she came to see me in the back of the house she said with the biggest grin on her face, "We weren't talking about anything up there....we were just talking about church up there.")
And though Mark picked out some treats that I really loved, the most special present was saved for last.
A container of purple glitter. :)
As I have mentioned before, it is my great privilege to be Turner's Mommy (or "Mother" as she's taken to calling me lately). She makes being a Mom more fun and rewarding than I ever dreamed it could be. Mark makes being a Mom easier because he is an amazing husband and Dad.
I started thinking about the glitter answer and it just totally cracks me up - we do lots of crafts around here and if you know me at all you know I have an affinity for all things sparkly. So I guess Turner knows her Mom pretty well!
But as I thought on it more, the purpose of glitter is to highlight something, to make it special, sparkly, more fun, better than it was without the glitter. And that's just what Turner does to my life - she makes it more fun, more special, and better than it was before she came into my life. She highlights my day with hilarious statements, an unforgettable personality, and lots of hugs.
Thank you sweet Turner for the sparkle you bring to my life every single day.
Thank you God for giving her to us as your wonderfully created gift.

I would be remiss if I didn't say thank you to my own Mom, who in my opinion is superwoman. She is my confidant, friend, encourager, example, and prayer warrior. And amazingly, she is also all of these things to countless people who aren't her biological children. She has a gift of touching people's lives when she meets them, and I just know that I want to grow to be more like her. Thank you Tootsie and Granny for the examples of Godly motherhood that you show to us every day. We love you - Happy Mother's Day!

SO sweet! And I love the GLITTER part! Makes me think of my first year in the Miss Auburn Opelika Area pageant (when you were crowning). I distinctly remember that the opening number ended with you in the middle of everyone THROWING GLITTER out at the crowd! HA! ;)
