I feel guilt for our enjoyment, since it's clear that this wasn't a pleasant occasion for so many people who were stranded over these last few days. I am thankful for the warmth and security of home, that Pop just delivered us plenty of firewood to keep our fireplace burning, and for the blessing of a few extra days with my sweet family.
On Tuesday, we woke up to plenty of ice but waited patiently for the actual snow to begin. When it did Turner and Anderson took off for outside for some "snowpolining" and sledding in our front yard. Some of these pictures had to be overexposed because it was getting dark quickly as we enjoyed these first few flakes.
On Wednesday morning we set out to enjoy the snow as much as Southerners can...with our cardboard sleds and way too thin pants for snow.
Daddy is super smart, collecting fresh snow
See what I mean about the pants?!
We took a long hike in the woods behind our house exploring in what felt like a winter wonderland.
Always thankful for great neighbors who share their fire pit and their son with us as if we were family.
I tried my hand at snow cream which was a first for me - the focus is stuck on the table and not the snow cream but you get the idea. It was actually DELICIOUS and the neighborhood kids had me make seconds!
And after the snow had the morning to melt/harden a bit, we were able to create a mini snowman named "Snow-laf". Turner cried on Thursday when he melted.
These videos are long, but I know family will enjoy watching Turner live it up in the snow!
Iphone pics from these days!
