LSA Field Trip to the AU Raptor Center

I was able to join Turner's class for a field trip to the Southeastern Raptor Center.  The staff of the raptor center are so patient and knowledgeable and it's always a treat to see their birds up close and personal.

We even got to see her fly and eat a few mice (her reward for a successful flight).  Such a fun morning at the Raptor Center!

Locahapoka Syrup Sop 2013

Tootsie and Pop were able to join us again for our annual trip to the Loachapoka Syrup Sop.  We enjoyed watching the train come through, yummy biscuits and cane syrup, and of course lots of great shopping!



You might be a redneck if...you ride down the road eating a candied apple and a fried turkey leg on your way home.  I guess that would be me!

Turner participated in the LSA cheerleader camp during the first full week of school back in August.  The participants were invited to cheer on the field during the football pregame on September 13th and Turner had a wonderful time!

Turner and Madison - this sweet girl has really taken my Turner under her wing in these last two years.  She is a protector and a sweet friend and I am so thankful for her interest in helping Turner's experience in after-school care be a positive one!

I'm not sure what words will adequately describe this...Tootsie was sweet enough to make sure that Turner's cuddle friends (Foxy and Snowy) were able to see the performance.  Absolutely no shame I tell you.

I'd love to know the contents of this conversation!

Football season is in full swing!

I was raised in a sports loving family and thankfully that prepared me to marry a sports fanatic husband.  I was raised to go to the game early and stay till it was over...so I always feel guilty when I choose to leave early or even skip the game altogether.  These days I just prioritize and choose my games wisely and try to accomplish tasks around the house while watching the game on various occasions.

For the second game of the season, my mom and I had tackled the daunting project of sorting all of Turner's outgrown clothes for consignment or handing down to others.  We started the project around 10am and I finished about halftime of the Auburn game that night (8pm).  It was quite an endeavor but it was rewarding to see the fruits of our labor.

And I determined that I would stay home and turn this mess...into some type of organized chaos by the end of the night.

Auburn vs. Mississippi State is always an interesting game for us, and mainly both of us just want it to pass quickly and as uneventfully as possible.  I still think our favorite AU vs. MSU game was the 3-2 horror that occurred in Starkville in 2008 - we were both amused at the complete disgust and nausea on the faces of AU and MSU fans alike as they staggered away from the stadium in disbelief. It was so bad both sides just wanted the game to end!

Turner always wears the colors of the home team and this was the picture I took outside the stadium to prove to a friend which colors we both had on.  She loves to talk smack to Mark when the game is in Auburn...but last year she smacked me in the forehead with her cowbell in Starkville.  So she definitely enjoys her ability to pick sides (and most often chooses the side of the winning team).

This year we welcomed some of Mark's friends from MSU which is always a special treat!  Time passes so quickly - when I married Mark this young man was 2 years old and he just celebrated his 13th birthday!

LSA Fall Festival 2013

We enjoyed another fun year at the LSA Fall Festival!  This event is well organized and there's enough fun to last the full two hours and not even see everything!

Thankfully, Mark was able to leave work a bit early to get Turner there right as the doors opened at 3pm, but as you can see below his pockets were drained by the time it was all said and done!
