The Christmas Parade!

Thursday night we bundled up and walked downtown for the Auburn Christmas parade! Parades, in my opinion, are a hallmark of small-town life. I grew up attending and sometimes marching in parades, and on a few occasions getting to be the beauty queen sitting on the back of a convertible waving to the crowd. (Ok...you can stop laughing at that thought!) Thursday night was Turner's first parade experience and we had a wonderful time showing her the lights, floats, and her first true glimpse of Santa!

These next thoughts may be lost on those of you who are not Auburn grads or very familiar with this town. I know that at times we take living in Auburn for granted, but I was truly struck by the fact that we were able to watch this parade standing at Toomer's Corner. What a neat privilege to combine such a special college location with such special family memories. To add to the nostalgia of the evening, we walked through Samford lawn before the tree lighting ceremony and I was able to snap a few pictures that I think are pretty neat.
