Turner has a very keen ability to recount TV commercials, as evidenced by her out of the blue "5....5 dollar...." comment last week when I was putting her to bed. I wasn't sure what she was referencing, and after asking her to repeat herself a few times I got it..."5....5 dollar....5 dollar footlong!" I remembered hearing a Subway commerical in the background during one of the NCAA tournament games. Background - right? Parenting lesson #1495 - don't assume that because you aren't "watching" the TV that children aren't absorbing what's being said. I was slightly thankful that it was something as harmless as a sandwich commerical - we all know it could have been much worse.
Needless to say, Turner has become interested in the commercials that she sees on Nick Jr. while she's watching her favorite - Dora the Explorer.
When the Garanimals (clothing brand sold at Wal Mart) commerical comes on they have various zoo animals dancing to the popular Technotronic song, "Shake That Body". Turner dances all around and says, "I want one of those!" I am not completely sure what it is that she wants, but I think it's the actual dancing animals...
When the Hungry Hippo commercial comes on, she says, "I want one of those!"
And for several weeks now, when the Chuck E. Cheese commercial comes on, she has stated "I want to go there!"
So I guess we should have been prepared tonight. I mean, it was just the normal Chuck E. Cheese commercial, nothing new or out of the ordinary. Turner saw the commercial come on and said, "I want to go to Chucky Jesus!" I wasn't sure I had heard her correctly, so I asked her what she'd said. "I want to go to Chucky Jesus!" (which came out more like "CHUNKY Jesus")
Mark and I had to turn our heads away from the dinner table to keep from laughing in her face! Chucky Jesus!!??
So many good things in life lie all in the interpretation... :)

That is too funny!! It is amazing how quickly they pick up on things. I love your header! Please share how you did it! You can email me at castleberryl@andalusia.k12.al.us
Also, how did you do the cute font? My blog needs some spicing up! :)
I'm sure Porter is on his way to reciting commercials too... Jared's parents brought over a kids movie called "Dunston Checks In" and I thought Porter wouldn't be old enough to watch or understand it--wrong. He laughs at all the right spots and "talks" to it. His favorite parts are when somebody falls down and when the monkey makes faces. I had no idea he was paying so much attention to the tv! At least we usually have it on "educational" kids channels, right??? :)
