Turner and I headed south last Saturday morning to spend a day with Tootsie and Pop in Andalusia and a few more days at the beach! I am thankful to have parents who love spending time with Turner (and me) and who love the beach as much as I do. They each took time away from work to take us to the beach for a couple of days and we had a fantastic time!
Pop of course needed help planting "Turner's tree"...and Turner determined that putting on clothing other than her nightgown wasn't necessary.
Nice little attitude isn't it? This lovely face has popped up a little more frequently this week when Turner has been told something she didn't like. Looks like my precious, sweet little girl? Sweet, yes. Perfect, no. Just keeping it real... The yellow string holds a whistle by the way, which scares away the 39 year old cat that makes Turner a little on edge. :)
And of course there were multiple rides on this toy.
On Sunday, we made the hour or so drive to the beach and were greeted by some of the most beautiful water and fabulous weather I've ever experienced for spring break. Turner could hardly stand herself she was so excited!
This picture makes me laugh! The water was chilly (didn't prevent swimming as you'll see later) and Pop and Turner had an agreement that they were only shooting from the knees down. I guess she didn't understand the agreement? The look on his face is hilarious!
There was some wave jumping despite the chilly water!
This picture reminds me she's really getting to be a "big girl" quickly! And check out the red popping out in that hair??
These two are just a mess. Turner cried for the first 35 minutes of the ride back to Auburn...she misses Pop a lot when he's not around. Nothing else in the WORLD matters to either one of them - as long as they are together.
Our condo was close to Destin Commons, which is a fun and hip shopping area with a delightful play area for the little ones. Turner had a blast in this water fountain feature, though the water was CHILLY!
We made it back to Auburn safely and I have managed to recover from the worst sunburn of my life. The weather was so delightful (no sweating!) that it was easy to miss the fact that we were getting too much sun. I also have a love/hate relationship with sunscreen - I love to be tan, therefore I hate sunscreen. It's the lifeguard in me, I know. But, since I arrived at the beach looking like Casper the friendly ghost's long lost sister...I should have known better. And frankly, I'm getting too old** to be sunscreen free. Aloe and lidocaine have been my close companions and thankfully I can walk without grimacing again - sunburned backs of knees are painful.
**At some point I am going to figure out that "things just ain't like they used to be"...my hair won't hold a pageant curl for longer than 10 minutes (I only try this for tacky day at school by the way), my skin burns more quickly and certainly sags more visibly. I digress... Such is life I guess...and a great life at that!
Stay tuned for a post about the last half of spring break - pool time, bowling, and much more! It has been a restful and fun week!
