Now, let me explain. I have a tendency to pick out large obnoxiously big Christmas trees. I know this. But this year, I picked an extra beautiful, extra thick and 9 foot tall beauty...that fell twice into my living room floor, broke my first tree stand causing us to purchase another heavy duty
Nevertheless, a couple of days later these fine young people invaded my home and we had a hilariously good time celebrating yet another year of CWE success and friendships.
Turner and Cooper enjoying some of the yummy goodies pictured above.
Turner enjoys getting in on the dirty Santa game and received this lovely hot pink steering wheel cover as the first gift of the night. She was planning on me putting that in my car, until some sweet young lady stole it from her! She went through several other steals but ended up a very happy girl with the board game "Ants in the Pants".
On Saturday, December 1st we enjoyed some old-school birthday fun at Charlotte's birthday party. This was Turner's first go at a sack race and I was proud of her for giving this new experience a try! She didn't love it, but did make it all the way to the end of the course and back!
On Sunday after church we had a little photo shoot in the front yard hoping for some Christmas Card worthy pictures. These shots are so typical of Turner's personality!
After lunch, we did a quick change and headed out to a hunting camp for our friend Tripp's birthday party. It couldn't have been a more perfect day for an outdoor party and Turner and I took advantage of the great scenery and had some more fun with the camera.
This was a construction party and the kids enjoyed climbing all over some big equipment and playing the sand with the little equipment.
Turner with three of her buddies from school, Max, Tripp, and John David.
I didn't know there was another child who liked to pose for the camera as much as Turner, but I think I found that in Tripp! These two hugged up like this naturally without any prompting and I was trying to snap as fast as I could and not let them see me laughing! Looks like a prom pose to me!
And though we couldn't stay as long as we'd have liked, Turner was able to catch a rather nice fish while we were there!
We headed back home to get changed and ready to report to church for the musical that evening. Turner and John Cyrus are both a part of the His Kidz drama and music group at church and were busy studying lines before the performance.
Turner was also an angel in our live nativity during an adult choir song, and here is pictured with a sweet Mary and Joseph.
Tuesday, December 4th was parent night at dance class and we always enjoy watching Turner show off her developing dance skills!
Saturday, December 8th we hosted a baby shower for Ella and John Weaver who are expecting baby Bramblett in early February. We had a wonderful time of fellowship, yummy breakfast food, and even got a little silly with some fun Christmas faces!
Nothing like preparing your home for days with Christmas decorations, preparing the yard with Tootsie and Pop's generous help, and looking out during the party to see that your 5 year old has deposited her pink Barbie knee and elbow pads up the walkway to your house. It reminded me of the trail of bread crumbs in Hansel and Gretel...guiding the guests to the front door I guess?
And of course working with college students comes in handy at parties because they certainly keep Turner entertained! During the shower we found several students on the floor with Turner playing Ants in the Pants!
Whew!! All of these celebrations and fun and it's only December 8th! Much more fun to come!
