Spring Break 2013

My mom and I had the same Spring Break this year so my whole family headed out on Saturday for a weekend of fun in Destin, FL!  It was set to be a cold and rainy weekend, but a rainy day at the beach is still a day at the beach!

First stop was a strawberry farm in Baker, FL.  My family has been going here for years and I don't think Turner had ever seen how strawberries were produced before this fun detour.

Second stop was a hole in the wall shrimp distributor in Niceville, FL where my dad is a frequent customer.  Since he works in the area a good bit we are the fortunate recipients of fresh seafood frequently!

This little guy was crawling in a container on one wall - I don't do crawfish but my husband and sister can nearly embarrass the family by how many of these they can consume!.

Never mind the steadily falling rain, Turner still enjoyed visiting with the cranes and watching the boats.
Till Pop had to make her come back under the shelter...
...and this was the lovely reaction!

We had to unload our bags in a monsoon of rain and all thought we looked too hilarious by the time we were done!

When the rain slowed, Pop could hardly wait to get their bikes into the wading pool that the parking lot had become over the last few hours.  We had people asking us for days if we were the people riding bikes in the puddles - I think they were jealous!

Thankfully, Sunday was beautiful and we did have one great day on the beach with sunshine and lots of fun!

My sister did say mom looked like the unibomber...it was still a bit windy!  :)

After some swimming in the pool Turner was a bit cool and decided this was the best way to stay warm and cozy as the sun started to set for the day!

Monday and Tuesday still provided some fun sand play for Turner (and some shopping time for me and Rebekah) but long sleeves and coats were a necessity!

We did make a few visits to Destin Commons and since Turner had been begging me to take her to a Build-A-Bear store for a while we decided this would be a good occasion for this experience.  Though I tend to like gaudy, I can't say I loved the rainbow colored friend she selected but she seems happy with "Sally Sherbert - Rainbow Hug Bear".  :)

And of course Rainbow Hug Bear needed a sequined rainbow shirt and some bedazzled skinny jeans!  Is it possible that gaudy tastes are inherited!?

We made it back to Andalusia and enjoyed a quick swing before we headed back to Auburn.

Thank you Tootsie, Pop, and BB for a wonderfully fun start to our Spring Break!!
