Smorgasbord of Summer Fun: Pool Time, Gardening, VBS, Andalusia, July4th

During my weeks off from work, we spend as much time as possible at the pool!

Though these pictures were taken a few weeks ago, our garden has been doing beautifully including red sunflowers that grew to nearly 9 feet tall!  Unfortunately storms in the past few days blew a couple over, but check out the size of these things!  Not sure why Turner has on a leotard and tutu skirt in the garden?

Our Vacation Bible School was a great success this year and Turner absolutely loved going each day!  Family Fun Night is always a hit with the water inflatables, shaved ice, and hot dogs (Turner's favorite).

Turner and I love to make crafts and this was our first big craft of the summer - egg carton sea creatures!

When I am at work Turner spends her days with Aubrey, Hudson, and Laney (and not pictured sisters Marlee and Shelby).  She loves being a part of this sweet family and after a couple of days away she's begging to go and visit for a while.  Miss Amy sends me pictures like this regularly so I can see what Turner is doing during the days when I do work in the summer.

Turner decided to set the table/bar one evening for a special dinner.  She wanted flowers, special polka dot napkins, and she hand wrapped our silverware in cloth napkins tied with matching bows.  She also decorated by taping curling ribbon all over the kitchen. I just love that girl!

While I spent a few days in Mobile at a conference, Turner enjoyed some parent free Tootsie and Pop time in Andalusia!  They took her to pick blueberries...
...to Robinson Park with Tootsie...
...and she and Pop played Galapagos Island checkers thanks to a good portion of Matt and Rebekah's stuff being in Andalusia.

To cap off a rainy 4th of July holiday, we decided to show Turner our fold out couch/bed and watch the Disney movie Brave.  Turner doesn't love movies, particularly if they have any type of "bad guy" so watching movies is a family affair with some anticipated breaks.

Our break this time included creating our "July Parfaits" that Turner found as a recipe in her High Five magazine last month. They were delicious and lovely in my crystal ice tea glasses. Turner cracked me up when she exclaimed, "Mom, we have parfait cups!" When I asked where she said, "In the Chinese cabinet!" (China cabinet?)  She makes me laugh every single day.

We are loving our summer vacation and are soaking up lots of free time to spend as a family!
