The joys of football season

We had such a fun weekend here at the Armstrong house! On Saturday we did a lot of nothing - I sewed (project pictures to come later this week), Tootsie and Pop kept Turner entertained (or vice versa), and we did manage to watch the heartbreaking MSU loss to LSU. Late afternoon we were still in the decision making process on whether Mom, Turner, and I should try to go to the game. With the threat of rain for most of the evening it didn't seem like a good idea...but we went anyway. We managed to make it through most of the 1st quarter before Turner was ready to go home. (She's a perfect excuse, but truly I wasn't too sad to leave as the rain sprinkles were steadily falling and the game was easily in hand.)

Here's where clothing malfunction #1 comes into this story. *Note: my mom begged me not to put this on the blog...but I think it is hilarious. So we made our way to the stadium, got to our seats, were enjoying the pre-game music, etc. and happened to look down at my shorts. (Albeit, fairly new, Ann Taylor Loft shorts...not my normal cheap Ross/Wal Mart shorts.) There was a lovely hole in the seam right in front of my zipper!! What in the world!?? And to think I had been on a transit bus, walked to the stadium, up the stairs, etc. with my shorts looking like this. Nice, huh?

(Note: in picture, shorts are not on a body, but rather on a kitchen table stuffed with a t-shirt for effect. I am not that crazy.)
Enter clothing malfunction #2. First of all you need to know that I received a text from Mark yesterday morning that he was soaked to the bone. They had a rain storm similar to the one in AU last week and he was completely drenched. So much so, that during the game he sent a picture of his soaking wet socks draped over my seat at the stadium. Mark barely goes sockless around our HOUSE, never, never in public. He doesn't wear flip flops or sandals - ever - yet he spent the entire game barefoot yesterday. So funny to me. Mark arrived home from Starkville around 8pm. He is just realizing he has no voice from yelling at the MSU game, and he came to the back of the house to show me his forehead. Normally this would be a typical thing, showing me where he got sunburned or something like that. Oh no. This time his forehead was red...but not from the sun. From his maroon visor. Which had bled all over and stained his head and clothes. Here are a few pics of the shirts and visor - pink is in fact, not one of their school colors.

And as any good husband would do, he came bearing presents for his two girls. A new sparkly maroon shaker for Turner (which I also loved) and a Johnny Ray's chocolate pie for me. I call this crack pie. If you have never had one, get in your car and drive to Birmingham right now. This is how we capped off our night. YUM!
