Turner has been very interested in "pottying" for a few months now. We have been reading Toddlerwise and watching for signs of readiness, feeling like we were very close to potty training time. But, we were given advice that perhaps we didn't want to try to potty train her during football season due to the fact that sometimes football situations don't equate to the to the cleanest bathroom situations. This was good advice I thought, and Turner is only 22 months so we thought we'd wait until around Christmas to do potty training boot camp.
However, about four weeks ago, Mark and I got an email during the day about Turner "tee-teeing" in the potty at Mrs. Rhonda's house. We thought this was just a random event...until for the rest of that week this happened on a daily basis at daycare. So, Mark and I head to Target to make an odd purchase. (Don't you love the personal toilet paper holder?)
Mark and I also got a special treat yesterday when we received an email that Turner had really graduated to "big girl" status at Mrs. Rhonda's house - she slept on the mat on the floor, rather than in the pack and play for the first time yesterday. This means that she laid down when she was asked to, went to sleep on her own, and stayed on the mat until Rhonda told her it was time to get up. Then, she woke up dry and ran to the bathroom and took care of business immediately. I arrived home from our field trip to Camp ASCCA yesterday and Turner loudly announced all of these accomplishments to me when I came in the door - she really loves to hear us say "Good job Turner!" and dance and celebrate her success. This has now happened two days in a row this week. I am hopeful that her experience with these sleeping arrangements will be to our great advantage when we transition Turner to a toddler bed in a couple of months.
I am absolutely in AWE of how much Turner is growing, learning, and developing at this particular stage. She is getting to be such a big girl, so independent, and so obedient. I am incredibly thankful for Rhonda and her patience in helping Turner work through these milestones with success and a feeling of pride.

YAY! Good job Turner! :) This will not shock anyone, but we got a portable potty from One Step Ahead that is great! Super small, stays in the car, and obviously has refills for each "use." Kirkley freaked a little when we sat her on a big public restroom potty -- which of course I was totally grateful for and placed my order for the travel size! :)
