Turner had her Valentine's Day Party at daycare last Friday.
(early due to some scheduling conflicts with playdate friends) So, I quickly started searching on a fun treat that I could add to the treat bags other than the same old candy option. I have had several friends who have created their own crayons in specific shapes using old, worn out crayons from around the house. I searched and found an easy to follow tutorial and I started peeling crayons...by far the least fun part of the whole project.
I found these silicone baking cups at Wal Mart - 12 cups for $9.99. They worked well and actually came clean much better than I anticipated! I really liked the tutorial I found online where the crayons were all mixed in color - complementary colors were put together, but they weren't solid at all! So, that was my aim as you'll see below...

Then you bake them at 200 degrees for about 30 min or until they are melted.

And they turn out to look like this - a little strange on this bottom side, but as you'll see below they pop out very nicely and look really cool in all the different colors!

While the crayons were baking, I had to prepare a pound cake to take to school Friday. Turner wanted to help, so we allowed her to stay up a little later than normal to help me finish the cake. She also helped me finish off the beaters - a time honored tradition in the Stone household growing up!

I had been on a mad search for some Dora valentines, or Super Why valentines. I wanted something girly, that was also something Turner likes at the present time. Well, those things didn't seem to exist in all the locations I searched. So, the final stop was Thursday night (remember I need them Friday morning) at Winn Dixie.
We go to the aisle with the valentines and I see the princess ones (below right) and suggest those to Turner. She agrees at first...until she sees the Handy Manny ones (below left). Then she is totally over the princess valentines and proclaims, "I want the Bob the Builder ones." I obviously try to discourage this as it's clear she's never seen Handy Manny (evident by calling him the wrong name) and I think she should have "girl appropriate" valentines. "No Mommy, I want the Bob the Builder ones." So, in hopes she might change her mind we came home with both.
But, Handy Manny it was - so on Friday morning Turner passed out what she claims to be Bob the Builder valentines. That will teach me - why kill myself trying to find what I think will be "perfect" when it's likely she may not even go for my idea anyway! I mean seriously - I am trying to convince her to get princess ones and she PICKS a handy man??!!

I baked some cookies for her to take to her party on Friday...

...and Friday morning we got all decked out in our heart shirt that our friend Oki let us borrow! Thank you Oki for a fun and different Valentine shirt!

Now, with the party and Turner's festivities behind me, perhaps I can think of something to get my real-life Valentine!!??
