Lee County Fair 2012

Last Tuesday we made our annual trip to the Lee County Fair!

As usual, Turner had been talking about the fair for days and was looking forward to the evening with great anticipation.  So much so, that as I was picking up Turner her best buddy Aubrey (who she spends her afternoons with) was begging her mommy to take her to the fair too.  A couple of phone calls later, we had it all worked out for Aubrey to join us for a night at the fair and these two girls couldn't have been more giddy!

This next series of pictures continues to make me smile every time I look through them - you can clearly see how much fun these two were having on what they deemed as their "favorite ride".

Both girls were eager to ride the roller coaster with hands up in the air!

Turner has obviously grown a good bit since last fall, and it was a bittersweet moment realizing that there were many things she could ride and do this year without having our required assistance.  Watching her walk up these tall stairs to the top of that slide - how is she that big?  Can you tell Mark was a bit worried?

Turner seemed to recall the dangers of the glass house and remembered to walk (not run) with her hands outstretched .  Aubrey ran inside before we could fully explain the warning and she pressed along full speed ahead....and as you'd imagine head first into the glass.  Several times.  Judge me if you must, but that is just hilarious to me (as long as no one gets hurt).  Poor Aubrey!

Always trying to tell Mommy something...even from the ride!

Our annual picture of me and Turner on the merry-go-round (which I guess most cultured people refer to as a carousel?).
Fake smile alert...included just for laughs!

We ran into our church buddy Jamie Claire at the lamb showing competition.  This was a special, unexpected treat to spend time with yet another friend at the fair!

Checking out the lambs!

This year we took a ride on the ponies, and Turner and Aubrey enjoyed playing the part with cowboy hats and lots of "yeehaws!!"
Turner and Aubrey are deep in discussion about something related to the money pit fishing game they each played to win that fancy blue flaming dolphin Aubrey is holding.  We now are the proud owners of three of these such animals, all of which came to live with us after a Lee County Fair experience, and Mark and I laugh at Turner's creative name selections - purple doggie, pink rabbit, and now blue-y.

One more spin on our favorite ride...
We got to pet the lambs and even walk a lamb around the pen area thanks to some very nice and accommodating owners.
My favorite fair tradition...not so yummy this year due to the disgrace of green apples in the candied apples as opposed to red delicious!

Both girls were sweet to indulge me a photo op with the fall scene as we were heading home for the night!

Here are a few videos, probably mostly for the enjoyment of family! We had a ball at this year's fair!
