First stop of day 3 in Boston was the Museum of Science. Much like the McWane Center in Birmingham or any science museum, it could easily consume a day's worth of time. We consolidated and strategically picked exhibits but honestly this was one of the most interesting and fun experiences of the trip!
Chillin with her daddy in a lunar module.
Learning to read animal X-rays and cranial scans with nurse/aunt BB.
Our favorite exhibit was basically a "Bodies" exhibit for kids. You got a personalized bar-coded ID bracelet and after you scanned in at various exhibits you participated in the testing process. Your data was recorded and then displayed on a screen with other participant data. Here Turner is measuring how quickly her body temperature returns to normal after "freezing" one of her fingertips.
Another hilarious part of this "Bodies" exhibit was titled "Grossology" and it pretty much put into life-sized perspective some rather inappropriate and hilarious human body functions. Here, the live demonstration of why we burp! Just around the corner children had to put in chronological order what happens when we vomit!
Nasty skin climbing wall!
We loved the Museum of Science and would recommend to anyone with curious kids!
The New England Aquarium…I can't say I would recommend this. Maybe I am just spoiled by the Georgia Aquarium…but this aquarium left much to be desired. It was terribly crowded in the middle of the day and just had fewer exhibits than I was prepared for. We enjoyed our time there, but within about an hour Turner had seen everything she was interested in and was ready to go.
We headed back to the Hotel and got ready to head back to Fenway Park for the Red Sox vs. Chicago Cubs game. We were thrilled that the Cubs were in town while were there! We love Wrigley, but I will admit that there is also a pretty special vibe at Fenway for a baseball game.
And again…Mark was in awe like a little boy at his first major league game. :)
Notice that my sister has become a die hard Red Sox fan since she's lived in Boston. Now, she's married to a die hard Cubs fan (as am I) so you'll notice Matt's Sox hat and Cubs shirt.
Mark was in his element, keeping score by hand and soaking in the awe of the moment. Then the Cubs pitcher proceeded to throw a no-hitter through 8 innings…I seriously thought to myself, "If we see the CUBS pitcher throw a no-hitter LIVE and IN PERSON…Mark may just die or rapture to heaven on the spot." He didn't go to the bathroom, he didn't go get dinner…it was really a special and adrenaline laden game…until the Sox got a hit. Nevertheless, the Cubs won and that made everyone super happy.
This little girl started singing "Go Cubs Go" in the bathroom at Fenway….before the game even started. All I could do was laugh!
