A fun, busy week!

It has been a busy week around here! Let's see if I can recap in small sections and with a few pictures...

Last Friday Tootsie and Pop came to keep Turner so Mark and I could go to the Auburn High School football game. We had a wonderful time, but when we left Turner was whining a little about her ear hurting. No surprise, Saturday morning Tootsie and I took her to the doctor and she had an ear infection in her left ear. So, because of the time that took, we had to reschedule our planned trip to the pumpkin patch and give sweet Turner some time to rest. BB (my sister) and Matt, as well as my uncle and cousin, arrived later in the day and we all enjoyed time getting to visit with them. It was pretty chilly, and being the awesome mom I am I hadn't really purchased Turner all the cold weather play clothes she needed....so this lovely ensemble was what she ended up wearing. BB said it reminded her of my mom during our childhood (she was a PE teacher for 25 years and pretty much wore one of these daily). Just in case you were wondering, that's a red elmo shirt, under a aqua and purple windsuit, pink hand-me-down tennis shoes (thanks Samantha!), and a flower in her hair! Nice!!Mark (being the smartest one in the family) offered to stay home with Turner rather than go to the AU game, so the rest of us headed across town to freeze and watch a fairly pitiful football game. BB, Matt, and I left at halftime due to being pretty chilled and BB having a strong need for a Jimmy John's sandwich. When we got back to the house, Turner was almost asleep but Daddy decided to allow her to come back out and play with those of us who had just arrived back at home. Turner quickly enlisted BB and Matt as book readers...On Sunday afternoon, Turner and Mark got in some fun play time with her new kite. Though she hasn't quite figured out how to keep it in the air and look at it at the same time, she has great fun with this $.40 kite from K-Mart! And yes, in typical fashion, she's only wearing a pull-up. In the front yard.
This past week was spirit week at my school, and Tuesday was tacky day. I always get into tacky day because I think it's the perfect opportunity to show my true feelings about that other school in our state. The funniest is how many times I get asked, "Mrs. Armstrong, why are you wearing that Alabama shirt?" The sixth grade brain sometimes has a hard time comprehending why an Auburn graduate would wear an Alabama shirt. I have to politely remind them, "Tacky Day? Get it?" Against my better judgement, here's a picture of me in the full get-up. Sad part of this is, I own and paid money for everything I have on. It didn't come from goodwill or the thrift store...I OWN it. And yes, that sash says, "Miss University of Alabama". No, I wasn't really her. (another 6th grade question) And yes, those are Bubba teeth. I own them too. (Actually, I need a new pair...Christmas stocking anyone?)
Wednesday night after church, Turner kept telling me she had hiccups in her ear. Her right ear. And it was causing her obvious pain. Great. I knew that Mon-Wed her runny nose and cough had worsened and she'd ended up in our bed more than I'd wanted at night....and by this point in the week I was convinced that despite an antibiotic, she'd developed another infection in the other ear. Thursday was pep rally day and team celebration day - a day I didn't need to miss - so Mark graciously cleared his calendar and took her to the doc. We were right - another infection in the right ear, left ear not totally fixed. New antibiotics and some steriods will hopefully help. You can imagine my surprise when I look up from our morning pep rally and see Mark and Turner there to view the festivities! Turner didn't even recognize me, but did manage to smile for a photo op back in the Panther hall.
We are headed into another eventful weekend, starting with the syrup soppin tomorrow morning in Loachapoka! Tootsie and Pop are meeting us there and Mark and I are heading to Starkville tomorrow afternoon for the MSU vs. Florida game. Yes, we are going to watch MSU play, but maybe more to watch Tim Tebow play in person. :) I am excited to get a few hours away with just me and Mark, but am a little nervous about leaving Turner when she's still not feeling so well. Tootsie and Pop do a great job taking care of her, but she's super clingy so please pray she'll do ok for them while we are gone!
