Life with Turner is so fun! She makes us laugh absolutely every day, and we have found ourselves in almost constant conversation with her in the last few weeks. When we ride down the road and Mark and I are talking, we find that she'll say random things just to feel like she's "part" of the conversation and isn't being left out!
Yesterday, we had one of those drives across town and she was just jabbering away in the backseat. This entire conversation happened as we drove about 3 miles down Donahue Drive into downtown Auburn. It went something like this:
Turner: "Mommy, we go see Daddy?"
Me: "Yes baby, we are going to see Daddy."
Turner: "I see W."
Me: "What?"
Turner: "I see W. I see E and S!" (she's looking at the digital compass display on my rearview mirror)
Me: "Oh, yes you do see those letters. Good job Turner!"
20 seconds pass
Turner: "Mommy, sing!"
Me: "Sing what Turner?"
Turner: "Mommy, sing Jesus loves the children."
Me: "Ok, baby. Here we go. Jesus loves the little children....etc. Now you sing it."
To add a realistic touch to your image of this car ride, here's a video of her singing this song last week at home. She doesn't seem to understand that you repeat the words "Jesus loves the little children of the world" again at the end....but oh well. And we've tried to convince her that the proper line is "precious in his sighT" not "precious in his siKe". (Throwback to the early 90's....SIKE!) I digress...here's the video.
Back to the car ride....
30 seconds pass
Turner: "BUS! I see school bus. Auburn bus! Go Auburn Tigers!" (Tiger Transit bus)
Me: "Yes, you do see a bus. Good job Turner!"
5 seconds pass
Turner: "Charus live there - on the green house."
Me: "Yes, Turner, Charus lives there in the green house."
20 seconds pass and we turn toward downtown Auburn
Turner: "Go see toilet paper!"
Me: "You want to see the toilet paper? Well, I am not sure there is any toilet paper left!"
The amazing part is that in the last few weeks she has really started to recognize places around town as we drive. She knows where Charus lives without us saying anything, which blew us away the first time she said it. She knows when we get within eyesight of the stadium and starts cheering, "Waarrrrr Eaglehey!" in her own special way. She knows when we drive toward downtown Auburn and associates that with her Sunday morning drives with Daddy through Toomer's Corner to see the toilet paper. She really blows our minds sometimes.
And most recently, the funniest thing has been her EXTRA SOUTHERN accent. Now, if you know me that will come as no shock to you. Most of you knew me after I left Andalusia, and I learned that everyone in the world didn't talk with the same accent that I did. So, I guess my accent mildly changed once I got to college and realized I might sound strange. But, if you put me back in Andalusia for longer than about 2 hours it comes back strong and takes me a while to get it back to "normal" (whatever that is?). Anyhow, Turner has inherited my thick country accent and it just cracks us up. For example, she says the sweetest blessing before we eat. We were trying to video it last night, and of course she wasn't performing for the camera like we wished. But, we did manage to capture this extra country "Aw-maen". (Note: once she realized this made us laugh, it's all she would say. The other parts of the blessing mysteriously disappeared.)
And just for laughs, here's a video of Turner spinning around in circles and making herself dizzy last night. Pardon my giggling, this had been going on for a few minutes by the time this video was made and I was totally cracked up at how "addicted to the feeling" she was. This was at least round three and the spinning kept getting faster and faster. High school may present some challenges if she enjoys the room spinning this much at that age...
Our life is full of laughter right now and it is good. There are challenges aplenty each and every day but the overwhelming majority of the time we spend with Turner we are smiling, laughing, or marveling at something she's learned. We are blessed.

The spinning made me laugh out loud. I'm pretty sure you could put the staggering up against any drunk's. :) Love the singing...her version is just more efficient. She's already SAID, "Jesus loves the little children."
she is so funny and cute and SMART!!!! love her so much. ;) i should make a video of nealy watching turner's videos - she coos and smiles and giggles.
Thanks so much, Sarah, for your sweet comments --and we will greatly appreciate your prayers! I did not know about your miscarriages, but I am sorry and I know how thankful it makes you for your beautiful, healthy little girl.
Turner is absolutely precious!
