Here is the newest installment of "Turner-isms". This little girl really makes us laugh!
When referring to Mrs. Potato Head, Turner insists that "Mrs. Potato Head, she's a lady!"
In the mornings I sometimes let her climb back in bed and snuggle up with her daddy for a minute before we get dressed. He's taught her to tell me, "Leave us alone Mommy." :) Yesterday, when I finally got her out of bed she said, "Oh, that was so comfortable!"
Yesterday we were outside playing on the swing set and a lady passed by walking her dog. Turner calls out to the lady, "Oooooh...that's a beautiful dog! My name is Turner, and this is my friend, Mommy."
Last night while Mark and I finished dinner, Turner decided to find the bulldog stickers in her sticker book and place them on the cover of her coloring book. When we asked her what she was doing, she said, "I am building a bulldog stadium." Hmmm. We continued to question her about what was going to happen in the bulldog stadium and she paused, then said, "The eagle is going to fly...war eagle fly down the field, ever to conquer never to yield!" (The beginning of the AU fight song is our newest musical endeavor thanks to a wonderful Auburn book Tootsie gave us for Christmas. I keep telling Mark that between AU and MSU and bulldogs, eagles, tigers, etc. she's going to be one mixed up kid!)
We've noticed her placing her hand over the toilet when it's flushed. When we asked her why she was doing this, she replied, "...because it splashes in my nose!"
The thing that has really shocked us lately is the increase of imaginative play. She's always enjoyed the PBS program Super Why and has recently taken interest in Dora the Explorer. After watching a Dora epsiode this weekend, she began to talk about things I was unsure of...until I remembered the content of the Dora episode earlier in the evening. She wanted me to "unlock the gates" (using the "key" that is actually a tongue from the Mrs. Potato Head kit). She mentioned crocodile lake and that she needed to jump over it. This continued for several minutes and was an elaborate plot that we were trying to follow. It was obvious that she was trying to involve Mark and me in a recreation of the storyline on Dora that day - only Mark and I didn't know what to do to play along!!
And finally, one of the funniest exchanges occured in Target last weekend as we set out to purchase a leotard for our mommy and me tumbling class.
Me: "Turner, here's a hot pink one with sparkles. Let's try it on to see if it fits. Does it fit?"
Turner: "Yes, it fits. It's perfect!"
Me: "Turner, I found a black one over here that should fit, do you like it better?"
Turner: "No mommy, put that black one back. This one (patting the pink one on her body) is PERFECT!"
Thus we have a new hot pink leotard for tumbling class tomorrow night...pics from tumbling to come soon!
