An afternoon of fishing with her Dad

This afternoon we headed back out to the lake for some late afternoon fishing and swimming.  Turner caught several smaller bream (Did anyone else know that's how you spelled that??  Thankfully I have a live-in journalism major and spell checker, so I was quickly corrected.), and as you'll see Mark even convinced her to throw them back herself.  I was completely grossed out by that...but she wasn't so that's cool.

But then, her Daddy convinced her to give the fish a goodbye kiss...and because she trusts him, she didn't even bat an eye.  Um...holding it is not so gross anymore.

Turner is "Little Miss Independent" these days, and actually asked me if she could go swimming without me.  I said yes, and she hopped right in there like it was no big deal at all.  Folks, I am still a little hesitant to get in water where I can't see the bottom and the bottom isn't a blue pool liner.  But not my girl!!

And then the real fun started...notice the DORA fishing pole.  See that?  That little girl fishing pole caught a HUGE catfish....who was so big he took the bait and hook.  The picture below he's thrashing around in the water and the next pic is ab out 3/4 of the fish as he swims away.  Y'all, it was about the biggest fish I have seen anyone catch in this lake since we've been coming here about 4 years....and Turner is SO proud. She shouts, "I caught a CATFISH!!" and as you'll see in a pic below...even decided she needed to take a bow for this unbelievable feat.

Uncle Richard arrived later tonight, and as usual he came bearing all sorts of fun things for Turner.  He brought tons of sports toys - which since Turner is the child of two sports nuts, was right up her alley.  Here she is sporting her baseball cap backward - something she did totally without our prompting.  She did seem to think that wearing the cap made you the coach?  As this picture is being snapped, she's staring down her Daddy and telling him to "throw the ball!"

She has a surprisingly good stance...but as you'll see below we need to work on hitting.  I am guessing tee-ball is definitely in our future?

And an impromptu puppet show and sing-along (coordinated by Mark) finished off our night.  What a fun day!

Look at Turner holding and giving a kiss to that wiggly, slippery fish! I can't wait to show the kids these pictures!

Though I am way grossed out by both the touching and kissing of the fish, I so enjoyed reading about this incredible day!! The catfish is way impressive. Jack, however, would be impressed with the cap, bat and ball. With his two sisters, he isn't going to understand that there are girls out there who don't play ball. ha! (maybe he'll realize that I'm usually inside painting...)
